I don’t understand why you’d buy something and then essentially destroy what it was. Everyone sees you doing this, are they actually going to make money?

Within your statement lies a claim that requires proof, without which the rest of it carries no weight whatsoever.
Most of them banned it since they’d break and flash flood the building
Is that Squirrel from the Cleetus McFarland YouTube channel?

He said in an earnings meeting that he was proud his corporation kills people. He’s an AI Trotskyite.

This fucking AI Trot still thinks anyone on this planet doesn’t think he’s completely psychotic?

Is that woman in the selfie the metal singer girl with the parrot that does growl vocals?

It must feel godlike to manifest your will simply by speaking it. I can understand why that would addict people. This is exactly why they are pushing it so hard - they know it has this effect, people will demand it, they will fight for it. They will give over their enterprise and their personal lives to it, the way a drug or gambling addict gives over everything they have to it.
With that kind of impact - especially early on, before people realize they’ve been taken - they can build enough momentum to corner all compute.
No longer can we gather or organize without our names attached, without our intent scanned and analyzed, our location tracked, or our wallets closed. We will have to drink our verification cans, and we will have to be nice to Trump, or else they will see what you wrote on your iPad Cloud or your Google Pixel Light and then they will debank you, like waking up from the Matrix. “Go woke and go broke” was always a premonition about control.

Also DIMM sticks have gotten faster in the last decade.
Like, significantly faster than 2016 RAM.

China is “hellbent on dismantling democracy”?
Do tell! Which terrorists have the sponsored? Who have they recently invaded? Ooo did they capture the leader of a sovereign state? Does money control all of their politics?

Is there a name for when we know what the right thing to do is but we keep not doing it?
Hubris.

We’re still throwing out morality platitudes on tech workers as we’ve watched since COVID as the tech sector at all levels has bled jobs, senior staff looking for positions for 2-3 years in some cases.
It’s impossible out there. I have moral objections to the way my company operates too but if I quit now my family will lose everything. I mean thankfully I’m not exactly crushing orphans in the orphan crushing machine but in a sane market I would look for something a little more aligned with my personal ideals. However just like buying a stick of RAM for a reasonable price, it just ain’t happening right now.

It’s probably also on his computer, but now inaccessible without the Microsoft account that contains the bitlocker key for that data
You know, like how fucking ransomware works

This is so much bigger than the secondary resale market, which is a small added bonus for them
The move from physical media; the price of computer components rising beyond reasonable levels; the locking down of hardware; the locking down of software distribution methods; the inevitability of de-anonymizing all Internet users…
The capitalist class has had enough of your criticism. We discovered their little criminal playground that preyed on children, we discovered how they hide their wealth without contributing back to society, we even discovered how government programs meant to “keep us safe” are used to exploit everyone on earth.
You think Sony ending physical discs is about video games? Brother it’s about the mind prison they’re designing to keep you in line while they fuck preteens on yachts until this whole planet burns to the ground

That doesn’t magically give me money to buy any alternatives with.
All this shit is Sam Altman’s fault, slimy fuck

I actually like the hexbears for the most part
It’s the snowflake libertarians who get all bent out of shape when they get called out by a plurality of leftists after chirping about their supposed freedom and they start crying on the timeline about how illegal that should be that gets me
So that you can’t.
You can’t organize against billionaires online if walled garden censored posting to the cloud is the only thing available to anyone. You can’t pirate media if you can’t store media locally. You can’t run a ad blocker if they’re not allowed on their app store. You can’t install linux if your tablet can’t be jailbroken.
You have too much freedom. They must have control back. We allowed them to have enough money to take it, they just had to fool the rubes with the promise of utopian robotic labor via addiction.
