Today’s game is Project Zomboid. Me and My friends have been playing almost daily on our multiplayer save. The additions made in B42 have been awesome for the immersion in this game. My favorite things right now are the animals. They help make the world feel more alive which i love. I especially like the chickens. It makes me feel like i’m rebuilding something which is something Build 41 felt like it was lacking.

I also went out and found a Step Van to help make gathering logs so so much easier, it can hold 140 in the back so it makes hauling them across the highway easier. Because of that i was able to finish the wall today, and then i also went ahead and dragged home some bricks. My hope is to eventually upgrade the wall to a brick wall so it will last longer. I (assume) a brick wall has more durability than a Wood wall so here’s to hoping.

Anyways, our group “Chef” was out today, so Jerry had to fill in and make dinner. I accidentally burnt the Omelette, but that’s okay because we had extras. I tried to make a salad and split it into bowls but i guess you can’t do that yet, so instead we all just ate a 1/4 and passed it around.

I also wanted to share something extra I made for fun that’s relevant. I tried to recreate one of my screenshots (with a little more personality too) in Blender with the Project Zomboid Community rig. I’m sure someone with way more Blender knowledge than me can point out everything i’ve done wrong, but for having literally no blender knowledge besides like half the Donut Tutorial, i think it turned out well.

I downloaded a mod that adds in some tracked vehicles from the 80s, and while the mod needs a little work for spawns (random houses should not have apcs and tanks lol) I did manage to find a cargo apc at one of the military checkpoints, and have been loading it up with a ton of mechanics stuff and things to grow food. I still have a few days before the water and power start going out, but I’m hoping to find some generators while I’m out. I definitely need to start grabbing every container I can for gas and make my way to some of the gas stations.
I modified the sandbox a bit for this run, because I’m tired of apocalypse games deciding that there’s no gas anywhere the day the apocalypse starts. Sorry but people don’t just leave cars in their garages with no gas in them. Nobody lets their car run out of gas intentionally. Gas stations aren’t constantly at risk of being completely empty. I used to live near a gas station in the middle of nowhere. The kind of place that Still had 80s style pumps in the 00s. I woke up every morning the gas truck drove by and had to shimmy to get the trailer in the right spot. They got filled every other week, sometimes longer.
So I decided for this run, cars almost always have gas, with the occasional completely empty tank. Stations got set between “low” and whatever the one right below full is, with a 12% chance of the station being completely empty. (assuming I understand the spawning stuff for it anyway) I still have to siphon gas from multiple cars to fill one tank of gas completely, but it feels more realistic than “150 cars and only one even had an ounce of gas” that I seemed to be getting before.
Also the number of cars seems very low, I don’t remember much of the 90s but I know people had tons of cars still…
Regardless, it’s a great game whether you play vanilla or modded.
I really enjoy the “6 months later” type. For those I like to role-play as someone who’s been stuck in one place for awhile and comes out to find the world is gone.
