Counter-disinformation group says social media channels connected to Pravda network helped amplify message

Accounts with links to the Russian military promoting far-right messages reached more than 500,000 people in the early days of the Ceuta migration crisis, according to an analysis done by 411, a counter-disinformation group.

Russia-linked social media accounts frequently spread destabilising narratives in Europe, often promoting far-right talking points about immigration.

But 411 and other experts suggest the scale and coordination of the disinformation that followed the Ceuta crisis is significant. Groups spreading disinformation are more organised and powerful than they were several years ago.

“We keep seeing this across Europe and we find it very interesting. It seems like there is some type of machinery in place, or structure,” said Saman Nazari, the lead researcher at Alliance4Europe, a Brussels-based nonprofit.

“Quite regularly, we are seeing this escalation happening across Europe now, with these types of crises. It is too much of a coincidence to be a bandwagoning effect.”

Remember how they threw waves of migrants at the Eastern borders of the EU (Poland, Baltics) some years ago, then gleefully mocked admins for having a hard time dealing with it? Destabilization is the point. Erode trust in institutions and even human decency.

Shocking that Putler of Russian and Beelzebibi of AIPAC would adopt the same strategy to deal with their war aggression.

Nothing in that comment is true:

      • it did not “collapse”
      • it did not cease to be because of what “liberals” wanted
      • it wasn’t only “liberals” that wanted the SU to end
      • actually the whole Eastern Bloc
      • The SU also wanted the “West” to “collapse”

Well shit, that was 35 years ago. Will Russia ever be responsible for their own behaviour?

capitalism is responsible for that behavior, also everything right wing isnt influenced by russia, its a huge part of what the west, america wanted, every capitalist country has significant amount of fascists and russia is no different.
