ever since the 90s, theres been a concerted effort to delete Whimsy from design, aesthetics, and style, and reduce everything to black, beiges, greys and white.

They painted natural wood and stone. I am having a panic attack over how much irreversible damage they inflicted on that historic space.

Unless someone has more information on this, I’m going to chalk this up to AI-generated rage bait.

The kitchen area still has the same items on that shelf, there’s an ugly hole where the old CRT TV is (despite the room being “finished” looking), the reflection on the TV is still the same, and the patio turned into an office meeting room. I’m not going to spend time on perspective calculations, but something about the beams on the roof and the placement of the railing look off.

One of the most pathetic things about Americans is them claiming to be a part of other cultures

I remember when I was running a bar in Scotland, and a stupid Yank said “oh, I’m Scottish”

I asked him a few questions, and it transpired that his great grandfather was Scottish

          Not him.

This was the same for Yanks claiming to be French, Irish, and all sorts

The closest any got was German.

America had culture for thousands of years, then some white shit heads did their best to kill it, and they still know deep down that they are stupid barbarians, so they pretend

          It’s pathetic.

Aren’t the “white shit heads” in this case from your culture though?

Look, I get it, the US sucks and we are terrible people. But it gets really tiring being shit on by the same people who sent over all the “white shit heads” in the first place.

If you’re from Western Europe I guarantee your ancestors’ countrymen and women were all up in here, too. Eastern Europe probably also, just a little later.

Scottish people aren’t white? You’re not Scottish? I was talking about the irony that you’re referring to the American in question as a “white shit head” when he’s literally descended from your culture.

But whatever bro, honestly I’m just blocking you and moving on. I just don’t have the patience to play 20 Questions with you.

You’re viewing US culture from another country, where you’re only getting the corporate monoculture that dominates our popular culture. But visit the more urban parts of any city in the US and you’ll be confronted with the reality of a more complex local culture

Whoever decided to put a rectangular table in a curved space is completely unqualified to make design decisions.

This looks like an AI edit rather than an actual renovation.

The shelf thing on the left has exactly the same items on it. Why would they keep the hole with the CRT TV in it? Also I’d hope that nobody would actually put a square table in a round space.

I will never understand people that paint hardwoods or natural stone with white paint.

That whole phase where everyone was painting their kitchens white killed me. That ruined so many gorgeous cabinets.

I can at least understand the kitchens. It’s nice to know a surface is actually clean. Drives me insane the amount of kitchens I’ve seen with countertops that constantly look spattered with food.

Change out the carpet, fine, but why that God awful laminate?Update the cushions, great. Paint the beams and fireplace, short term thinking to destroy something that will now forever need work and updating. I hope you drywalled over the wall panels and didn’t just slap paint on them. It is a current “look”. Will be out of date/trend in a couple years - far shorter than the other look that took 30 years to be dated and now would be retro.

That grey laminate flooring pisses me off like nothing else in cheap home remodeling. It’s embossed with wood grain but what fucking real wood is grey like that? It’s the 2020s equivalent of 1970s faux wood paneling.

Pretty much all untreated wood turns grey when exposed to prolonged sunlight?

That being said, I don’t like that look in flooring. On a weathered fence or log cabin it’s fine.

I hope they replace the 80s Colour TV with a monochrome medical display just to bring it all home.
