we don’t have Chinese car tariffs because Chinese cars aren’t sold in the US.

This is on top of the special 25% tariff on all chinese goods. The reason we don’t have Chinese cars is the massive tariffs.

Sometimes I notice I do that on my motorcycle when coasting my motorbike backwards down curbs into traffic. I look before I start backing out so I haven’t been flattened yet.

China makes EV SUVs, they’re just as awful as their American counterparts despite being slightly better for the environment.

But the part that the big auto manufactures fear is that they would destroy the market; they understood awhile ago that every wagon they sell is a lost SUV sale, which has a way higher margin, every sedan a lost sport-crossover sale, every minivan a lost 4dr pickup.

Dealers hate EVs because they lose so much on servicing, and dealership owners are one of the most chuddy groups.

The reasoning is to protect us companies from having to invest in better factories and design, any manufacturer’s cars meet whatever safety standards they are designed to meet.

One makes power more expensive, decreases wages, and steals your drinking water, the other gives you cheap power, good jobs, and filtered water (though excess capacity rarely goes into the municipal supply).
