My case was actually food poisoning. 😞 At least it didn’t last too long!
Pro tip…always keep a solid (not mesh) trash can in your bathroom. Hopefully you’ll never need to…but if you ever need to puke and shit simultaneously, you’ll be thankful.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•suddenly getting married not for love but to pool resources and pay less in taxes doesn't look like a bad idea. Am I broken?English
13·3 days agoIs that not technically the legal purpose of marriage to begin with???
I know I’ll get downvoted for this, but…Lemmy and related are an “echo-chamber” of sorts. You’ll find that a vast amount of people “in the real world” don’t share this sort of imminently apocalyptic mentality. I really mean no offense in my phrasing and I’m not trying to shit on anyone here. It’s just the way things are.
I remember being almost surprised at how “normal” life was when I first moved to a place that had polar opposite political views than me. Life went on…in mostly the same way it did when I was surrounded by people who mostly shared my ideologies. Life goes on…especially in the western world. Even in different parts of the US, it’s a far cry from some place like Somalia or Iran or Israel/Palestine or North Korea.
Idk. Sorry I got a bit rambly. Suffice to say that I don’t think you’re ever going to find what you seek.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Have you ever experienced sexual anhedonia?English
1·4 days agoI would say very very rarely and also fleeting. They don’t occur on their own. But very rarely when I used to see a sex scene in a TV show or movie I would feel something for some limited moments. If I didn’t have visual stimulation from these, they wouldn’t occur on their own.
Glad what you described has not become a pattern for you so far!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•how did you overcome your existential crisis?English
3·4 days agoI echo others in that I don’t personally feel like it will “go away”.
But I guess I view it kind of like I view trauma and grief. It will still always be there, but you can build your life outward from there so that it feels less significant with time. It might still bring you back and catch you off guard some days with how strong it will feel, even if you think you’ve “moved past” it. But you can get through it. Time and living life will help to make that a comparatively smaller part.
Best of luck.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Have you ever experienced sexual anhedonia?English
2·5 days agoI’ve never had the ability to feel sexual pleasure, unfortunately. Was a confusing time growing up. It also sometimes makes me really feel like I’m missing out. When all media revolves around sex and you can’t even feel pleasure from masturbation, it feels like you’re missing something from the core human experience. Sometimes it has made me feel like a different species.
I guess at least for me, I “don’t know what I’m missing” because I’ve never experienced it. I’m sorry that you know what it feels like so that it’s more painful when you can’t anymore.
Has anything changed in your life recently?

3·5 days agoSame. I wish I could at least once because people make it sound amazing. But I think my plumbing just isn’t built correctly or something.
I’m glad you’re still here and thank you so much for the words of advice/encouragement.
Social pressures. Yes, being hungry is uncomfortable and even can hurt, but if you ignore it long enough, it can sometimes become a bit more like background noise. I have always been a healthy weight, but my entire life I have had the paranoia of becoming fat. And so I am very accustomed to feeling hungry. When they started me a psych med that people can easily gain weight on, I started monitoring my weight more closely. Often, I go to bed with hunger pangs.
Quite frankly, I never understood how people are able to eat as much as I see them eat and still maintain a normal weight. I have always needed to eat less than others to maintain a healthy weight. My coworkers will eat 3 meals a day and be a healthy weight, but I have to eat 1 regular meal, 1 small meal, and maybe 1 small snack to stay a health weight. I’m guessing it’s because I’m shorter so there is less mass at a healthy weight. Sucks.

If I ever get rich, I’m getting a maid and a chef. Or honestly if if android service bots become affordable, I’d get one. Idc if I’m at risk of a robot uprising…household chores are too annoying and never ending!!
