Gather 'round, young ones, while I relate the tales of the dark times when we had computers before myst…
(AOL CDs were coasters, though).

Maybe Brazil if not Portugal?

I’ve never known anyone who has a basement in Japan. Commercial buildings frequently have them, but they require a lot of maintenance, ventilation, sealing, pumping, etc.
Burying pipes below the frost line is definitely a thing, though.
I actually looked at properties butting against a hill/mountain to dig a root cellar, but it ultimately ended up being more trouble than it was worth.

Our water table in a lot of Japan is way too high to make that practical without a lot of clever engineering to make it at all sustainable long-term. (I saw a reference to tokyo-2 elsewhere in the thread so I may be being wooshed by anime/manga references). And as I type this we get an earthquake, heh

There is so much of this that screams it’s a waste of my taxpayer money. Disaster recovery is good, but we don’t need a whole-assed second capital that, presumably, is going to not be otherwise useful. I also think moving it anywhere south, particularly toward the humid sea-of-japan side, rather than north is dumb.
If Osaka, Nagoya, or whatever want to structure their internal government more like Tokyo, that’s a completely separate matter and what they do internally isn’t of consequence to me.

That’s exactly how I saw it. He’s showing signs of addiction and needs to get help for such. He’s quit and gone back to twitter many times and stories he tells from his youth also hit close enough to home for me to have that worry.

I think this wording is too strong, but I indeed ctrl+f for apnea. OP should do a sleep study.

I’ve read a couple stories of companies (planning to) release EU-only models there, but non-EU-compliant ones everywhere else.
That’s fine. Google devices have been disappearing from my life as well, so this will not be a long-term problem.
