Pedantic or AI bros ;) I find this new generation of gullible tech users scary. Recently saw someone voice their disappointment with Codeberg’s anto-vibecoding stance, and the person was describing themselves as “tech optimist”, which I believe is a great way to self-out as being extremely gullible.

Think all you want, statistical text prediction has nothing to do with AI. The “intelligent” algorithms are all in the pre- and postprocessing steps that make the output sound good enough to fool gullible people into assumong intelligence.

I think the comparison is acceptable with maybe a terminology clarification in the footnotes, because “AI” is the false term under which this current bullshit is being marketed.

And people who believe the core mechanism in large language models to be AI are so uneducated that they will probably neither understand the distinction to legitimate AI research, nor bother to read footnotes.

We needed to bring out pitchforks and torches to dethrone the ultra wealthy like… 30 years ago.

To be fair, the time separators don’t behave well on all implementations of filesystem access by filename. Need to use underscores or omit them at times.

Honestly I am a bigger fan of vegetarian (vegan) meat supplements. I don’t mind if chemistry gets involved as long as supervision is adequate. In the end, livestock is just a biological “factory” that turns vegetables/grains/grass into tasty meat. No reason that can’t be done without the detour via the living being.

Not everyone’s cup of tea but I was always a huge meat lover and for ~15 years I have committed to only eat meat when I really really want to & focus on quality then. And those times have become less and less, and I can absolutely live with the veggie options.

But I think food chemistry can go a long way and potentially produce artificial meat as well.

While I don’t disagree on companies (having always been) getting greedy, getting a whole cooked chicken for 5 bucks is only possible through industrial factory farming of livestock with horrible animal cruelty. Try raising, slaughtering, plucking, gutting and cooking a chicken for that average price without basically creating a torture concentration camp for chicken.
