I have a prediction. The sun will not run out in our lifetime and will keep on shining. Oil might be a problem, and become scarce
If you’re wrong about the sun, no one will be saying much.
not even the super cool tardigrades that survive in extreme conditions including some amount of outer space?
Not even. Primarily because they can’t speak.
disappointing. what if we fed them some really good cheese?
then they’d learn french…who’s side are you even on??
I’m trying
My government’s arguments against solar: we need to build a billion dollar storage facility for natural gas because hydo doesn’t work in dry years and solar is too unreliable.
Me: you’re saying we need gas because solar is unreliable
Government: correct, the sun isn’t always shining
Me: and hydro has dry years
Government: yes, sometimes it’s just sunny all the time so there’s no rain for the hydo lakes
Me: 🤦
Meanwhile gas has been really reliable this year…
And it’s hard to mine oil on top of almost any building while it’s rather easy to collect solar on almost any rooftop. This decentralizes the grid which is good for disaster recovery and national security.
Bad for profits though. The sun is too free. How are they supposed to make money on this?

One day, all of elon musks starlink satellites will open up their secret space sails and block out the sun for the benefit of the oil industry. /s
Honestly wouldnt even surprise me at this point. Seems orchestrating global disasters are his business now
How difficult would it be to DIY an anti-satellite weapon?
Attacking the satellites directly is rather hard, fucking up their signal and pissing off the FCC is rather easy though.
Just need a bunch of Estes rockets and some duct tape and you’re golden.
