Background: I was recently doomscrolling the All page when I found a post bashing a specific topic that’s somewhat personal to me. It was obvious that the OP was making a rage post, but gave it a read. I responded with my two sense countering OP’s perspective (in what I thought was a respectful manner). Admittedly, I did not read the rules of the community I posted in, but ive found if your civil most people will deal with you in good faith. Apparently that community is not a place that disagreement to the perspective OP expressed is tolerated. I had my post deleted and was banned from the community for my comment (I know its not hard to dredge up the details, but don’t want to name names cause that’s not really the point).

I keep finding myself dwelling on the whole experience and keep raging about how things played out. I know I’m better off not dealing with that community and frankly wish I’d never discovered it. The whole ordeal is becoming a major distraction from daily life and I don’t like the effects is having on my headspace.

So I suppose, how do you all deal with your brain dwelling on dumb interactions with mal-intented people? Lol, the ideal suggestion should not involve any tones of revenge.

I have to consciously remind myself that my parents were and are wrong.

Sometimes I imagine the versions of them that live in my head gagged and bound in cages.

No, dad, it was not a self-fulfilling prophecy that ruined my life, it was child abuse. No, mom, I should not repress my own emotions to please others. I am a human being, not your fucking possession.

They’ll be part of me for as long as I am alive, but sometimes I can shut them up.

I am trying to make something out of the ruins of my life. Not much luck so far. Therapy hasn’t helped yet. I wish people would stop normalizing abuse. The bible belt is a cesspool of stubborn, deadly ignorance.
