    I see why he did them

    Because he cares about those close to him personally…

    Which sounds like a good thing, until you realize most of the country voted for him to fix the justice system for all of us, and one of the first things he did in office was insult people who thought he’d be able to accomplish anything.

    If you were already worried about a corrupt justice system in 2021, that was a huge slap in the face.

    And then Biden doing this pardons was an even bigger one.

    The problem is double jeopardy doesn’t apply if you’ve never been to trial…

    If Fauci had went to federal trial, gotten convicted, and then gotten a pardon; he wouldn’t have to worry about state charges.

    He’s never been to federal trial, and he can’t go to federal trial for anything during that decade.

    So if he pleads the fifth with a pardon, he should be able to be compelled to testify, and held in contempt if he won’t.

    But if he doesn’t plead the fifth, Texas can prosecute him under Texas state law and the pardon means nothing.

    It’s a weird “grey area” because it’s not a real area.

    Nixon demanded it to resign, and since no one made a big deal because it was easier to let Nixon walk away, it’s become normalized to the point where if you say a president shouldn’t be able to give one to his clearly guilty son for drugs and guns charges…

    People accuse you of supporting the other party which is clearly worse.

    Which makes no logical sense, and just shows how bad political discourse has gotten.

    We really don’t need a cringey “anti ai leader” on a place where 99.999999999% of users have a realistic view of what the chatbots actually are…

    It’s like going to burning man and protesting against slavery…

    No one is going to disagree with you, but people are either going to ignore you, or at most try to convey the message that everyone already agrees with you, your not accomplishing anything or changing anyone’s mind.

    The only way it’s not a complete and total waste of time on your part, is if the only reason you’re doing it is so people pay you on the back and tell you you’re right.

    The reason it’s important enough for some people to bring up, is that because of the way the human brain works, talking about a problem can release dopamine like actually doing something productive. So people can fall into the trap where all they ever do is “raise awareness”

    And not only can that mean they don’t accomplish anything productive, their “awareness raising” gives other that dopamine and they also no longer feel a drive to do something productive about it, because they already got their dopamine.

    So…

    Tldr:

    Whatever the fuck you’re trying to do with that account, is most likely to have the opposite effect.

    I’ll never know if you just keep doing this, but I hope you don’t.

    This is the entire problem with pre-emptive pardons and why it’s fucked up whether it’s Joe Biden or trump handing them out:

    The pardon from Biden covered acts from 2014 through the January 2025 day it was issued. It does not shield Fauci from state-level prosecutions or from investigations into any testimony that he did give that lawmakers thought was false.

    It’s been fucked since Nixon got the first one over 50 years, and clearly if we don’t do anything about, it’s going to keep being a problem.

    All this shit does is tell every single American:

    The justice system is corrupt at the highest levels, but rather than attempt to fix the system, the powerful will just take care of each other and leave everyone else to fend for themselves.

    Even if people don’t realize that, that’s what they hear. And it has a large effect on a populace and is usually the clearest sign a society has already failed.

    When everyone believes the system is corrupt, they stop caring about what’s right and only caring about if they can get away with something.

    It’s the root cause of why shit is so fucked up and everyone is so selfish.

    They’re elected.

    What you’re doing is like an incel bitching about “all women” just because you had bad luck and dated 3 psychos in a row. The problem is never “all ____”, it’s always the ____ you’re choosing.

    Congrats, you agree with the head of the DNC, whose said multiple times we need presidential candidates like Mamdani.

    Do you understand that? What that means?

    That the DNC and progressive voters agree that a progressive candidate has the best shot at winning?

    You’re being manipulated by the oligarchs into hurting our best chance in generations to win a battle in the class war.

    Because you’re “jaded” which is really the same as “manipulated into being too exhausted to try”

    Wake the fuck up, it’s all hands on deck and ignorance isn’t a valid excuse.

    I think it’s important for people to understand that (fairly recently) they changed the definition of “inflation”.

    It used to be used as shorthand for “money inflation” which is when they supply of money increases which raises the prices of goods. This is what we saw when it would take literal wheelbarrows full of money to buy a single loaf of bread.

    That is not what is happening here.

    Now they say “inflation” and mean “prices went up”. There’s no increase in circulating money that causes it. All the money is being hoarded by oligarchs, and because no one else can afford to buy as much as they can, the oligarchs raised prices on everything so we had no choice but to spend more and get less.

    The reason isn’t “inflation” or any abstract concept, the reason is greedy oligarchs who think we won’t or can’t fight back.

    So stop fucking acting like this is a complicated thing that we need to figure out how to stop, we’re being price gouged by every industry and they’ll keep doing it till we make them stop. They’re doing it intentionally, and they’ll keep lying about it.

    Because if enough people realize the only reason prices are up is because no one is reigning in corporations…

    We might elect someone who is willing to reign in corporations.

    Volunteer.

    All the money in the world can’t buy actual enthusiasm.

    If you have doubts, I can probably dig up that old video of the Cuomo fundraiser for NYC mayor. You can pay people to pretend to be grassroots support, but they’re not going to actually give a shit or be able to actually talk about policy instead of repeating talking points they don’t agree with.

    Wherever you are, volunteer with your state Dem party, and drag it left. Even if you’re lucky enough to be in a “good” state, push em left.

    The lower the stakes the more of an advantage that is. With data centers we need people involved at even the local level if we’re building up a bottom-up party again, then local politicians are the foundation, not an afterthought.

    As two of the greatest environmental protesters of the 90s once said:

    You gotta think glooooobally, but act loooooocallly, buuuuuddy

    We’re seeing leadership announce support for Abdul now he’s won, which is undoubtedly a positive, but you can’t deny that for weeks they were throwing all their support for Stevens and concern trolling via CNN and MSNBC that Abdul was less “electable” than Stevens.

    Buddy…

    No one in any leadership position should be endorsing anyone in the primary.

    If they are, it’s probably lame duck assholes like Schumer and Jefferies. People with zero political power, and are the last vestiges of the old guard until the next congress due to their elections happening just a week or two before the DNC pivoted away from neoliberalism.

    The second that happened Jefferies and Schumer lost the ability to withhold funds from any person/state who didn’t do what they said…

    That’s the entire reason we keep winning special elections, progressives keep winning primaries, and the party stopped doing their best Smaug impression so they can force a neoliberal thru the presidential primary in 2028. Because they’re not going to try and do that.

    They’re trying to get the House/Senate back.

    So…

    Because of all that, yes, anyone in a leadership position endorsing during a primary is going to be saying something stupid, that’s because the smart and ethical thing to do is not influence primaries, because that destroys the entire point of having a primary.

    If you took a second and looked around, you’d see the main problems are already fucking fixed and “the party” is finally on our side again.
